NEW REPORT EVALUATES RECENT IMPROVEMENTS IN KANSAS’ TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM, DOCUMENTS FUTURE CHALLENGES

A new report that evaluates the recent progress made in improving and modernizing Kansas’ surface transportation system, while documenting the transportation challenges still faced by the state, will be released at a news conference in Wichita, at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 7.

The report, “Modernizing Kansas’ Transportation System: Progress and Challenges in Providing Safe, Efficient and Well-Maintained Roads, Highways and Bridges,” documents the recent improvements to the state’s roads, highways and bridges, which were made possible largely through the T-WORKS program. In addition to examining the recent progress, the report also documents the remaining challenges faced by Kansas in providing a transportation system that is safe, well-maintained and efficient. TRIP is a national nonprofit transportation research group based in Washington, DC.  Carolyn Bonifas Kelly, TRIP’s associate director of research and communication, will present the findings of the report at the news conference.
